Joby Aviation, a pioneer in next-generation, all-electric air mobility, is expanding its presence in the UAE and is seeking a Manager, Business Operations to support the commercial launch and long-term growth of its operations in Abu Dhabi. As Joby prepares to introduce sustainable, zero-emissions air taxi services, this role will play a critical part in shaping one of the world’s first operational urban air mobility ecosystems.
Headquartered in California, Joby is developing a quiet, vertical take-off and landing electric aircraft designed to deliver fast, safe, and accessible urban transportation. The UAE has been selected as Joby’s inaugural global launch market, positioning the Abu Dhabi team at the forefront of regulatory development, operational readiness, manufacturing integration, and customer experience innovation within the rapidly evolving aviation sector.
Role Overview
The Business Operations Manager will work directly with Joby’s UAE General Manager to translate global strategy into executable local programs. Operating at the intersection of aviation operations, business development, manufacturing coordination, and strategic planning, the successful candidate will manage complex cross-functional initiatives while building strong partnerships with government entities, infrastructure stakeholders, and commercial partners.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Abu Dhabi, requiring close collaboration with global teams across engineering, operations, finance, legal, and policy functions. The role demands strong program management capabilities, analytical thinking, and the ability to navigate fast-moving, highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead strategic initiatives to prepare Abu Dhabi for commercial air taxi operations and long-term scaling
• Partner with federal and local government entities to support regulatory alignment and operational readiness
• Coordinate cross-functional programs spanning flight operations, manufacturing enablement, supply chain integration, and business development
• Develop financial models, operational strategies, and long-range planning scenarios to guide investment and market decisions
• Identify growth opportunities through market analysis, partnership evaluation, and commercial negotiations
• Act as a strategic integrator between global subject-matter experts and local stakeholders
• Support executive leadership through strategic planning, project execution, and operational decision-making
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in program management, strategy and operations, consulting, or investment banking, ideally within aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in dynamic environments
• Experience working within the UAE ecosystem, including collaboration with government and semi-government organizations
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Flexibility to work across time zones and travel internationally as required
• Arabic proficiency preferred but not mandatory
