A Lesson I Learned Too Late (But Grateful I Did)
The other day, I read an old message from someone I had been in touch with back in 2010. He was an architect with 40 years of experience. At the time, I had just graduated. He offered to mentor me, teach me, and even mentioned Autodesk events I should attend. But back then, I was too closed-minded. I couldn’t see how these things would help me as an intern architect.
When we caught up recently, it reminded me of Plato’s cave story, where people only see shadows and fear stepping outside, thinking the outside world is dangerous until one person finds the courage to leave and see the real world. That’s how I feel sometimes today. Trying to share the incredible things happening out there, but many still hesitate to believe or take the step.
Yet, there is hope. In the past months, I’ve seen people around us take that step with us, and watching them succeed has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey. Their success is truly our success.
I am very grateful for those moments and for the opportunity to support innovators and open-minded professionals. 💙
