About the Role:
AECOM is seeking a creative and highly experienced Aviation Architect to join our Boston team. This role focuses on leading interdisciplinary teams and delivering aviation projects including terminal renovations, hold room design, security checkpoints, and airside facilities through all phases of design, documentation, and construction. The ideal candidate is client-facing, innovative, and passionate about growing AECOM’s aviation architecture practice.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage design teams on aviation projects from concept through construction documents
• Support the pursuit of design and technical excellence in new aviation projects
• Develop solutions to complex technical challenges and ensure regulatory compliance
• Oversee and mentor junior designers and architects • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, vendors, contractors, consultants, and permitting authorities
• Lead client discussions, presentations, and design charrettes
Desired Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s preferred)
• Licensed Architect with NCARB certification preferred
• Minimum 6 years of experience in architecture; 10+ years preferred in aviation-focused projects
• Proficiency in Revit/BIM, Photoshop, InDesign, Rhino, SketchUp, and other visualization tools
• Strong knowledge of building codes, aviation standards, and terminal construction
• Experience leading integrated design teams and delivering complex projects
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
