Policy Specialist, Heliports & Vertiports – UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
The UK Civil Aviation Authority is hiring a Policy Specialist to lead on heliports and vertiports policy, based at Gatwick (hybrid). This permanent full-time role will shape the future of vertical aviation in the UK, balancing mature heliport standards with pioneering work on eVTOL operations and vertiport integration.
You’ll develop and advance national policy, represent the CAA in international groups, and work with industry, government, and regulators to ensure safe, proportionate, and future-ready frameworks. From supporting hospital heliport feasibility studies to designing policy for next-generation air taxis, this is a unique chance to influence both established and emerging aviation sectors.
Ideal for professionals with strong knowledge of heliport design standards (ICAO Annex 14, CAP 168/437/1264, Reg 139/2014), experience in aviation regulation or operations, and a passion for innovation in UAM, automation, and electrification.
